Book an Initial Assessment

An Initial Assessment is the first step for anyone beginning their journey with Brainshape.

Your Initial Assessment—formally called a Functional Neurodevelopment Assessment—is conducted by Brainshape founder Dr Zoe Braund. It helps Zoe and our wider Wonder Crew understand your or your child’s unique story, including health history, strengths, current concerns and areas of everyday life that may be challenging.

What may be explored

The assessment is tailored to the individual and the reason for the appointment. Depending on the person’s presentation and health history, Zoe may explore areas such as:

  • Movement, balance, coordination, posture and core stability.

  • Early movement patterns and primitive reflexes

  • Sensory-motor processing and body awareness

  • Timing, attention and processing

  • Visual and auditory function, where clinically relevant

  • Participation in everyday activities

The assessment methods used will depend on the individual’s circumstances, health history and reason for the appointment.

Assessment findings are considered as part of the broader clinical picture. They do not, on their own, provide a diagnosis or mean that treatment is required.
