Photobiomodulation (PBM)

Photobiomodulation (PBM) uses carefully calibrated red and near-infrared light to support cellular energy production, circulation, and healthy nervous system function. By influencing mitochondrial activity and metabolic efficiency, PBM helps create conditions that encourage repair, regulation, and neuroplastic change within the brain and body. The therapy is non-invasive, gentle, and widely used in clinical and neurological settings to support recovery, resilience, and functional improvement.

PBM is applied strategically according to each child’s clinical presentation, developmental profile, and overall care plan. Rather than functioning as a standalone intervention, it is thoughtfully integrated to support the nervous system’s capacity for regulation, learning, and long-term adaptive change.

Does my child have a brain imbalance?

PBM supports the brain and nervous system through several interconnected biological effects, including:

  • Enhancing cellular energy production (ATP) within mitochondria

  • Supporting circulation and local metabolic activity

  • Encouraging natural repair and regulatory pathways

  • Creating a physiological environment that supports learning and neuroplasticity

Clinical PBM at Brainshape may involve the use of the iSyncMe QEEG + PBM Helmet, which delivers guided, brain-based light therapy informed by neurophysiological data, as well as Neurosolution Lasers, high-grade clinical PBM tools applied strategically according to each child’s therapeutic goals.

PBM may be used as part of care for children with:
